Waskowsky's Holocaust monument in Groningen

The memorial features seven brass hands mounted on pedestals along an irregular wall, with the central hand containing space for a menorah.

Created by artist Eduard Waskowsky and inaugurated in 1977, this monument pays tribute to 3000 Jewish citizens from Groningen who perished during World War II.

The empty pedestal in the monument composition represents both the absence of those lost and serves as a tribute to Waskowsky who died before completion.

Located next to Sterrebos park at coordinates 53.2031089, 6.5760105, the monument stands where a water tower existed until 1970.

A scale model of this 25-meter-long memorial has been placed in the Yad Vashem museum in Israel since 1984.
