Amsteldok, Office complex in Rivierenbuurt, Netherlands
Amsteldok is a large office building along the Amstel River in Amsterdam with eight floors and extensive glass windows. Its exterior is covered with six million white tiles, giving the structure its distinctive appearance.
The building was completed in 1973 from a design by Hugh Maaskant and was among Europe's largest office buildings at that time. A major renovation in 2018 transformed it into a contemporary workplace for modern companies.
Today it serves as a working hub for creative companies and international firms that occupy its modern spaces. Visitors can sense the activity and energy flowing through the different office floors.
The building is easily accessible from outside and offers space designed to work with the surrounding environment. Its stepped horizontal form allows sunlight to reach street level throughout the day.
The interior contains continuous voids running through the floors, which provide ventilation and natural light throughout the building. Multiple planted roof terraces and a dedicated lounge on the upper level offer unexpected gathering spaces.
