Willemswerf, Office building in Rotterdam, Netherlands
Willemswerf is an office building in Rotterdam with a striking diagonal glass stripe running across its white facade. This design element visually divides the structure into two distinct sections that extend from its base to its roof.
The building was completed in 1988 by architect Wim Quist as headquarters for Royal Nedlloyd Group, with the design concept finalized in just three weeks. Its distinctive form has shaped the port district skyline since its construction.
The structure appeared in the Jackie Chan movie Who Am I, where the actor performed a memorable sliding scene down the slanted glass section.
The ground floor holds a restaurant and coffee bar with views of the Nieuwe Maas river. The lower floors operate as a parking facility with room for hundreds of vehicles.
A 2012 renovation transformed the lobby into a marble-lined space with a spiral staircase inspired by high-end hotel designs. This refined entrance area stands in contrast to the building's modern exterior.
