The former monastery consists of dark brick walls with sandstone decorations and contains 347 individual student apartments spread across multiple wings.
Built in 1924 as a monastery and girls' boarding school, Klooster Marienbosch housed the Sisters of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph at the edge of Nijmegen.
The building incorporates architectural elements influenced by Art Deco and brick expressionism, featuring a chapel within its cloister courtyard completed in 1929.
Each student unit measures approximately 27 square meters and benefits from sustainable energy systems, including a wood-fired heating installation.
The renovation project achieved a remarkably low EPC value of 0.3, making it a carbon-neutral residence while maintaining its historical characteristics.
