Synagogue, Middelburg

This synagogue occupies a building between Sint Janstraat and Herenstraat and combines traditional architectural elements with contemporary interior spaces. The rooms accommodate religious services, lectures, and chamber music performances for both community members and visitors.

This was the first Jewish house of worship built outside Amsterdam in the Netherlands when it was constructed in 1705 in a merchant's backyard. Its creation reflected the growing Jewish communities settling in provincial towns during that era.
