Concordia, Grain mill in Ede, Netherlands.
Concordia is a grain mill in Ede with an octagonal form, a tapered brick base, and a wooden structure topped with thatch, featuring four sails across three levels. The building still contains its original milling equipment and operates in the traditional way.
The mill was originally built as a sawmill in the Zaan region and arrived in Ede in 1865 after fire destroyed a previous structure at this location. This rebuild on the site started a new chapter for grain milling in the town.
The mill shows the craftsmanship needed to grind grain and remains a place where you can see this work in action today. Visitors can watch the machines and observe how people carry out their tasks here.
The entrance is at Telefoonweg 34 and the building is easy to find and reach in town. Visitors should wear everyday clothes and be aware that the historic machinery is delicate and requires careful movement around it.
The eastern gable wall carries an inscription with a name and date pointing to an important phase in the mill's history. This marking shows who worked here and when a significant moment for the building took place.
