De Blauwe Aanslag, Former squatted tax office building in The Hague, Netherlands.
De Blauwe Aanslag was a three-story brick building at Buitenom 212-216 that housed workshops, a cinema, a restaurant, and living spaces for around 200 residents. The spaces were used for diverse artistic and community activities.
The building was constructed in 1886 and occupied in 1980, operating as an alternative community center. It was demolished in October 2003 after city officials decided to expand the road network through its location.
The space housed Radio Tonka broadcasts and the Bunker record label, supporting electronic musicians like Legowelt across the Netherlands. Artists and musicians regularly gathered here, making it a hub for the alternative art scene.
The building no longer exists today, as it was selected for road expansion plans in 1993 and later demolished. Visitors can find local historians or community members who remember its role in the city's cultural scene.
The name comes from the blue tax assessment notices that Dutch tax authorities sent to citizens from this former tax office. This detail from the building's past history shaped how people remembered the place.
