Nicolaïkerk

The Nicolaïkerk is a large hall church built in a Romano-Gothic style featuring brick construction and accompanied by a detached bell tower beside it. The building impresses with its soaring pointed arch windows and seven-sided choir section, displaying the craftsmanship of medieval builders.

This church began in the early 13th century as a simple two-bay brick structure and later expanded significantly, notably with the addition of a transept section. These changes reflect the growing importance and economic prosperity of Appingedam during medieval times.
