Nicolaïkerk, Medieval church in Appingedam, Netherlands
The Nicolaïkerk stands as a Romano-Gothic hall church with a detached bell tower and high pointed arch windows in its seven-sided choir section.
Built in the early 13th century, the church began as a brick hall with two bays and underwent major expansions, including the addition of a transept.
The church houses the Hinsz organ from 1744, which remains an essential instrument for concerts and musical performances throughout the year.
The church measures 48.30 by 28.25 meters, making it the largest religious building in the Groninger Ommelanden region of the Netherlands.
The bell tower contains three church bells and a carillon of 51 bells, with the original 25 bells cast by John Taylor in 1911.
