Trammuseum Rotterdam, Transport museum in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Trammuseum Rotterdam is a museum of historical trams, buses, and metro vehicles housed in a former depot building at Kootsekade. The collection spans different decades and shows how public transport evolved in the city.
The institution started in 1968 when Rotterdam began collecting and storing historical trams. The collection grew over decades until it moved to its current building in Hillegersberg in 2011.
The collection shows how trams once shaped Rotterdam's character and moved people through the city in daily life. Today visitors can experience firsthand how these vehicles still travel through downtown on weekend runs.
On weekends visitors can ride in historical trams through downtown and board or exit at multiple stops. It helps to check operating days in advance and arrive early since rides are popular.
Many of the trams on display were rescued from scrapping by volunteers and are still maintained regularly today. Visitors can watch this work happen in an active workshop on the site.
