Watertoren, Water tower in Oostduinen near Scheveningen, Netherlands
The octagonal tower reaches 48.74 meters high with a copper dome roof, featuring vertical niches and round-arch friezes on its brick facade.
Built in 1874 by architect Bert Brouwer and engineer Theodor Stang, the tower was constructed to support water extraction from surrounding dunes.
The structure combines Romanesque and Renaissance elements, displaying carved Corinthian capitals on pilasters and blocked round-arch decorative patterns throughout its exterior.
The tower contains two large reservoirs with capacities of 1000 and 1200 cubic meters, making it the largest water storage facility in Zuid-Holland.
This structure marks the first instance in Dutch engineering where builders enclosed a water reservoir within a complete brick wall system.
