Máximapark, Urban park in Vleuten, Netherlands
Máximapark is an urban park in Vleuten with an 8-kilometer paved pathway called Het Lint that connects different recreational zones and gardens throughout the space. The grounds feature various landscaped areas, including a Japanese garden, plus specialized sections designed for different types of outdoor activities.
The park was designed by the architecture firm West 8 and opened in 2006 as part of a development project. The goal was to integrate green spaces into Utrecht's expanding residential neighborhoods.
The Japanese garden features traditional bridges and a pagoda that reflect horticultural traditions from East Asia. Walking through this section, you notice how carefully chosen plantings and water features create a peaceful setting influenced by Japanese design principles.
The grounds offer dedicated paths for cycling, running, and horseback riding, with four TimePoints available for runners to track their performance. The paved surface and clear markings make it easy to navigate and find your way around.
The Vlinderhof butterfly garden contains specialized plant species like butterfly bushes and New York asters chosen to attract butterflies and bees. This section creates a thriving habitat where you can observe these pollinators moving through the plantings.
