Statenlogement

The Statenlogement is a 17th-century administrative building featuring a twin-gabled facade and a sandstone entrance gate from 1613. The structure preserves original tiled floors throughout its interior and ceiling beams decorated with artistic details in its rooms.

The building was constructed between 1613 and 1618, replacing former friar houses that once occupied the site. It then served as the official lodge for representatives of the States College, a role reflected in its name.

The interior displays decorated ceiling beams and wooden finishes in Oriental Indian style, reflecting the trading connections that shaped the city. These details reveal the wealth that sailors and merchants brought back to Hoorn.

The building hosts rotating exhibitions from the Westfries Museum and sits in the heart of the old town, easily reached on foot. Visitors can explore the rooms and examine the historical details that define each space throughout the property.

A historical cannon at the corner of Nieuwstraat and Nieuwsteeg marks the property boundary of the building. This metal marker is an unexpected detail that hints at the city's maritime or military past.
