Sloterpark, Public park in Amsterdam Nieuw-West, Netherlands.
Sloterpark is a 48-hectare green space in western Amsterdam centered around an artificial lake. The grounds feature walking paths through natural areas, sports facilities, and open spaces for recreation.
The site was part of Amsterdam's 1935 expansion plan and opened as a public park in 1974. It was created to provide green space for the growing western neighborhoods of the city.
The park includes notable art installations, including the 1969 steel structure 'Constructie I-BEANS DIN 30' created by sculptor André Volten.
The grounds include a water sports center, disc golf course, skatepark, and outdoor swimming pool for various interests. During warm weather these facilities draw crowds, so visiting early in the morning or on weekdays works best.
The lake was created through sand extraction for construction projects and later transformed into a popular recreational space. This transformation shows how the site evolved from industrial use into a valued community gathering place.
