De Zalm

De Zalm is a listed heritage building at Markt 34 in central Gouda that serves as a multi-use hospitality venue with dining and drinking areas. The traditional Dutch structure houses bowling lanes, billiard tables, and a cocktail bar alongside regular restaurant and sports bar sections.

The building was established in 1551 as the Old Salm and later gained official recognition as a national monument in 1966. This long span of operations reflects its importance to the region's architectural heritage.

The building takes its name from a bronze salmon figure that sits on the roof and has marked this location since 2006. This statue has become a recognizable feature that catches visitors' eyes when they look upward.
