Asserbos, Nature area in Assen, Netherlands

The Asserbos spans over 100 hectares, featuring ancient oak trees, dense holly bushes, and a network of intersecting straight paths forming a star pattern.

Established centuries ago, this deciduous forest stands as one of the oldest woodland areas in the Netherlands, with ponds dating back to 1836 and 1895.

The forest includes an open-air theater, a deer park, and a children's farm called De Hofstede, serving as a recreational center for local residents.

The forest remains open daily with free parking, offering marked walking trails and scavenger hunts available at the Sustainability Center during operating hours.

The paths in Asserbos follow a distinct star-shaped pattern, with straight lanes crossing at central points throughout the forest's expanse.
