Zilverberg, Student housing complex in Amsterdam-Noord, Netherlands
The Zilverberg building contained 646 residential units across ten floors, with three sections per floor including shared kitchens and living spaces.
Built between 1968 and 1970, Zilverberg marked the first large-scale student housing project in the Netherlands, designed by architect Charles van Heelsbergen.
The student café within the building served as a social hub for residents until management issues and security concerns led to its temporary closure.
Each of the 607 single-room units measured 12 square meters and included private bathroom facilities with a shower, toilet, and sink.
The building earned the nickname 'Jumping Amsterdam' in the 1980s before its demolition in 1990, replaced by the Hildsven senior housing complex in 1993.
