Heikese kerk

Heikese kerk is a church building with neoclassical architecture, featuring three naves, sturdy columns topped with Ionic capitals, and expansive windows. Natural light flows through the interior via these large openings.

Construction of the present building began in 1827 under architect J. Backx to replace an older medieval structure. The original 15th-century tower survived and was renovated between 1892 and 1895 rather than demolished.

The church serves as a community meeting point and hosts various local events beyond regular worship services. It shapes the appearance of the central square and remains an anchor in Tilburg's civic life.

The building sits centrally at Stadhuisplein and is easily accessible on foot. As a protected heritage site, it welcomes visitors who should allow time to observe the architectural details and windows up close.

The tower displays Brabantine Gothic features that reach back over 400 years. Its survival and the modernization around it make it a notable example of how old and new blend in Tilburg's cityscape.
