Rijn en Zon, Flour windmill in Utrecht, Netherlands.
The Rijn en Zon windmill stands at Adelaarstraat 30 in Utrecht, featuring traditional Dutch construction methods with a stone base and wooden upper structure.
Built in 1745 at Paardenveld, the windmill was later reconstructed using parts from both the original structure and another mill called De Meiboom.
The name Rijn en Zon derives from its builders Govert van Rhijn and Bernardus Sonnenbergh, reflecting the Dutch tradition of naming mills after their creators.
Visitors can reach the windmill by taking a 15-minute walk from Utrecht Central Station or riding bus line 6 to the Oudenoord stop.
An inscription from 1913 on the mill celebrates its connection to Utrecht, marking its role as one of only two remaining windmills in the city.
