Watermill at Singraven, Historical watermill near Denekamp, Netherlands.
The Singraven complex on the Dinkel river comprises three separate operations: an oil mill, a grain mill, and a sawmill, each with its own water wheel. The stone buildings follow the course of the river.
The site is first recorded in the 15th century and later suffered damage from warfare. Stone tablets on the buildings document the various reconstruction periods over the following centuries.
The site forms part of the Singraven estate with gardens, farm buildings, and countryside that together create a rural setting. Visitors can observe how the structures relate to the water and landscape around them.
The site is easily accessible and offers guided tours on certain days. Wear comfortable shoes as paths around the mill buildings can be uneven and muddy.
A renowned painter from the 17th century captured this mill in one of his works, showing how it appeared in that era. This historical painting helps visitors understand how the site has changed over time.
