De Oeverlanden

De Oeverlanden is an urban park situated along the northern shore of Nieuwe Meer lake, featuring meadows, wetlands, and walking trails through natural vegetation. The space combines different landscape types and open water areas that shape the overall character of the grounds.

The park was created in the 1950s from soil dredged from Nieuwe Meer lake and became a protected natural area in 1984 after the industrial site was transformed. This conversion shows how former industrial land was turned into valuable natural space.

The park is actively used by the local community for nature education programs and gatherings that help visitors learn about local wildlife and plants. These activities show how important the space has become for people who want to connect with nature.

The park is accessible by bus routes, and a ferry connection operates from April through October for easier access. The trails are well suited for walking and the area remains accessible year-round.

The northern section of the park features unexpected art installations, including a large pink glasses sculpture and a white spherical tree-like structure. These artistic elements add a surprising creative dimension to the natural space.
