Patisserie Holtkamp

Patisserie Holtkamp is a small bakery shop housed in an art deco building on Vijzelgracht, offering pastries, cakes, and handmade croquettes. Production happens in the cellar kitchen and the shop also supplies local bars and restaurants around the city.

The shop was founded in 1886 and its interior design dates from 1928, making it one of the oldest continuously operating bakeries in Amsterdam. This preservation of the original fittings shows the long continuity of the place to the present day.

The shop sells traditional Dutch snacks like croquettes and bitterballen made here for generations using classic recipes. You can see how these small bites are deeply rooted in Amsterdam's food culture today.

The shop is open Monday through Friday, with orders accepted until 4:00 PM. This small establishment sits in the city center, easy to reach on foot, and has simple facilities without much seating space.

The shop uses a manual food elevator to transport fresh croquettes from the cellar kitchen to the sales counter upstairs. This old method is still in daily use and shows the practical ingenuity of the original setup.
