Fikkie, Bronze puppy sculpture in Oude Binnenweg, Rotterdam, Netherlands

The bronze statue depicts a small puppy named Fikkie sitting on a platform with a design element representing dog waste underneath.

Hungarian artist Joeki Simák created this statue in 1963 to commemorate the centennial celebration of the Rotterdam Student Corps.

Students from the Rotterdam Student Corps perform annual cleaning rituals and place scarves on the statue during winter months.

The sculpture stands in a public area of Oude Binnenweg, allowing visitors to observe it at any time without entrance fees.

The statue has been kidnapped three times by rival student groups but was returned each time to its original location.
