Eiffelgebouw, Industrial monument in Statenkwartier, Maastricht, Netherlands
The Eiffelgebouw is an eight-story industrial building in central Maastricht that dominates the skyline with its substantial height and size. Today it houses The Student Hotel, residential lofts, and commercial spaces across its multiple levels.
The building was constructed in 1941 as a factory for Sphinx ceramics and operated as a production facility for decades. When manufacturing ended in 2006, the structure was converted into a mixed-use space for housing and commerce.
The Sphinxpassage inside displays ceramic tiles and historical elements reflecting the region's industrial roots. Visitors walking through can see how factory work shaped the identity of this part of the city.
The building is easily accessible and houses various public areas including a restaurant and gym that welcome visitors. Its central location makes it convenient to reach and allows you to explore the surrounding streets on foot.
Sixteen residential lofts on the upper floors have private roof terraces accessed through specialized sliding boxes. This inventive design allows residents to extend their living space directly onto the rooftop.
