Vroom & Dreesmann Haarlem is a ten-story retail building featuring yellow brick walls with sandstone bands, stained glass windows, and a prominent glass-topped corner tower. The structure spans eight levels above ground and two basement floors, with multiple entrances accessible from both Grote Houtstraat and Gierstraat.
The structure was designed by architect Jan Kuyt following a 1927 competition and opened in 1934 after modifications requested by the local beauty committee. It became a modern retail anchor during a period of economic growth in the city.
The building reflects design movements from the 1930s through its visible architectural details and materials. These different styles come together in the facade and interior spaces, creating a blend of artistic influences from that era.
