Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekapel, Historical chapel in Schilberg, Netherlands.
The Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekapel is a brick chapel painted white and located in Schilberg. The building features a three-sided choir section, a tiled roof, and a bell tower positioned at the rear.
The building was constructed in 1691, with a chronogram above the entrance displaying the year through Roman numerals. This inscription marks the craftsmanship and importance of the place at the time it was built.
The chapel contains a 15th-century wooden Madonna carved in color and fourteen Stations of the Cross created with an opaline technique. These religious artworks shape how visitors experience the interior and reflect local craftsmanship traditions.
The chapel is accessible from the outside and can be explored by visitors, with the bell tower serving as a clear landmark for orientation. The bell rings regularly and creates a calm rhythm that makes the space easy to navigate.
Seven small buildings with passion scene reliefs were originally scattered around town, with four dating before 1670. In 1981 they were moved to the chapel square to be preserved together.
