Huis Brakel

Huis Brakel is a mansion featuring neoclassical design set on spacious grounds near Zaltbommel. A bell tower connects the main building to the coach house, forming a unified architectural composition across the estate.

The original structure was destroyed in 1672 during conflict with French troops, after which the current mansion was rebuilt in 1768. The reconstruction reflected the desire to restore the estate to prominence.

The mansion functions as a venue where local residents gather for ceremonies and meetings throughout the year. The spaces reflect a purpose that extends beyond private living and serves the community.

The house is used for events today and can accommodate groups of up to about 200 guests. A dedicated kitchen chef prepares meals for various occasions, so visitors can expect on-site catering services.

The facade displays an unusual architectural choice where the walls beside the front windows are plastered white, while other sections show red brick. This contrasting feature gives the house a distinctive appearance that sets it apart from other estates of its time.
