192 Museum, Radio and music museum in Nijkerk, Netherlands
The 192 Museum was a radio museum in Nijkerk dedicated to offshore broadcasting and Dutch pop music history. The exhibition occupied two floors, with the upper level focused on ship-based radio operations and the lower level documenting the development of Dutch pop music over several decades.
The museum operated from 2016 to 2019 and honored the legacy of Radio Veronica, a broadcaster that transmitted from ships in the North Sea between 1960 and 1974. Following its closure, many exhibits were transferred to Museum RockArt in Hoek van Holland, where they remain accessible to visitors.
The exhibition space contained reconstructed radio studios, original broadcasting equipment, vintage records, photographs, and a collection of Radio Veronica memorabilia.
The museum closed permanently in August 2019 and is no longer available for visits. Those interested in the collection can find relocated exhibits at Museum RockArt in Hoek van Holland, where part of the holdings has since been transferred.
The museum's name referenced frequency 192, used by Radio Veronica during its transmissions. This unconventional naming directly connected the space to its subject matter and made the connection to the legendary pirate broadcaster immediately clear.
