I amsterdam Sloterplas, Steel sculpture at Sloterplas lake, Netherlands
I amsterdam Sloterplas is a steel sculpture on the south side of a lake in Amsterdam. The installation consists of large letters that partly lay flat on the ground and partly stand upright.
The sculpture was created in 2005 by design agency KesselsKramer as a replacement for an earlier city slogan. It was part of a city marketing campaign to promote Amsterdam.
The letters serve as a gathering place for people who exercise and explore the lakeside. Locals use the spot regularly for training and relaxing in a natural setting.
The artwork is located near Cornelis Lelylaan street and is easy to reach on foot or by bicycle. The area is flat and offers good conditions for visits at any time of year.
The letters are equipped with fitness equipment and climbing elements that invite people to exercise. Visitors can not only admire the sculpture but also actively use it for running, climbing, and resting.
