Sint Jorisdoelen, Guild house in Middelburg, Netherlands
The Sint Jorisdoelen stands at Balansplein with a golden figure of St. George on top and features the coat of arms of Middelburg and Zeeland.
Built in 1582 as headquarters for the St. George shooting guild, the structure underwent complete reconstruction between 1969 and 1970 following World War II damage.
The building represents the naval traditions of Zeeland through its connection to the St. George shooters guild, first mentioned in historical records from 1352.
The Sint Jorisdoelen now functions as Hotel St. Joris, offering 54 rooms, a breakfast lounge, and a garden in the center of Middelburg.
The building includes a tower with a spiral staircase and maintains its original 1582 façade design despite modern additions of side wings in 1970.
