Nordkapp Municipality

The municipality encompasses multiple settlements on Magerøya Island and parts of mainland Norway, featuring fjords, peninsulas, and a subarctic climate near the Barents Sea.

Established in 1861 as Kjelvik Municipality when it separated from Kistrand, the region changed its name to Nordkapp in 1950 and incorporated parts of Magerøya Island in 1984.

Local residents maintain traditions centered around fishing activities while adapting to seasonal tourism patterns that bring 200,000 visitors annually to experience northern phenomena.

The European route E69 connects the municipality through the North Cape Tunnel, while Honningsvåg Airport provides daily flight connections to Tromsø throughout the year.
