Drammenshallen, sports and concert arena in Viken County, Norway
Drammenshallen is a large multi-purpose hall located at Marienlyst sports park in Drammen, covering nearly 8,000 square meters of space. Inside, it features four handball courts, two shooting ranges beneath the seating areas, a dance hall, training zones, and various rooms for different activities and classes.
The hall opened in 1978 and was among the largest sports venues in the Nordic countries at that time. It grew into a major venue for concerts and sporting events, hosting numerous famous performances from the late 1970s through the 1990s.
The name reflects its location in Drammen, and the hall serves as a central gathering place where local residents come together for sports, performances, and community events. It holds significance as a space where people from different backgrounds share common interests and create shared memories.
The hall is centrally located in Drammen and is easily accessible by public transportation, especially buses. Parking is available near the building, though fees apply for extended parking periods.
Outside the hall stands a statue of a handball player, a gift from a major investor. The building was constructed on land that previously belonged to a paper mill, marking the site's transformation from industrial use to sports and community activities.
