Nes Church ruins

The stone remnants of Nes Church stand on a headland between the Glomma and Vorma rivers, marking centuries of religious significance in the region.

Built in the 1100s as a Romanesque church, the structure faced destruction by Swedish forces in 1567 and later succumbed to a lightning strike in 1854.

The ruins maintain their spiritual connection through modern ceremonies, serving as a venue for concerts and weddings against the backdrop of Norwegian landscapes.

Visitors can access the site by car from Oslo within 50 minutes, with guided tours available from April to October and operating hours from 7 AM to 11 PM.
