Siljustøl, Artist's home museum in Bergen Municipality, Norway
Siljustøl is an artist's home museum located on a mountain farm near Bergen, where composer Harald Sæverud lived and worked. The house preserves his study with a grand piano and personal possessions arranged as he left them during his lifetime.
The house was completed in 1939 after the composer received it as a wedding gift in 1934. Sæverud lived and worked there until 1992, when a foundation took over the property to preserve his memory.
This place represents the bond between an artist and the landscape that shaped Norwegian cultural life. Visitors experience how a composer lived alongside nature and used his home as a space for both creation and hospitality.
The site is best visited on summer Sundays when guided tours are available. The surrounding area offers hiking trails of varying difficulty, so appropriate footwear is recommended.
The architect designed the building in close collaboration with the composer himself, blending traditional Norwegian farm design with modern touches. This partnership created a space where architecture and musical creativity were directly connected.
