Botnkrona, Mountain summit in Alstahaug Municipality, Norway
Botnkrona is the highest peak in the Seven Sisters range, towering above the surrounding landscape at about 1,070 meters (3,510 feet). The mountain rises sharply from the coastal areas and provides sweeping views of the fjords and neighboring peaks from its summit.
The peak formed through uplift and erosion during the ice ages that shaped the Helgeland region's topography. These processes carved the distinctive profile of the Seven Sisters over thousands of years.
Local residents maintain strong connections to the mountain through regular hiking activities and outdoor traditions that span multiple generations in Alstahaug.
The climb demands solid hiking experience and good weather, as the route includes steep sections and exposed rock areas. Visitors should start early and prepare for variable conditions, especially during months outside summer.
From the summit, visitors can watch Hurtigruten ships passing through the fjords below, offering a sense of the area's active coastal traffic. This proximity to one of Norway's most famous shipping routes adds a special dimension to the summit experience.
