Ind-Eks-huset, Cultural heritage building at Solli plass, Oslo, Norway
The Ind-Eks-huset is an office building with 17 above-ground floors and 4 underground levels, its facade made of white granite-clad concrete elements. Rising about 57 meters high, it provides extensive office space in central Oslo.
The building was constructed in 1964, replacing the former Det engelske kvarter area. It was originally designed to serve as office headquarters for the Norwegian Industry Association and Export Council.
The building's main entrance displays a large mosaic artwork called Sildefisket by artist Rolf Nesch, depicting Norwegian industrial heritage. This artwork catches the eye as you enter and gives the interior space an artistic character.
Access to the building is ground-level from Solli plass, with a spacious foyer that is easy to navigate. The location is central and well-connected, making it straightforward for visitors to find the main entrance and mosaics.
Architect John Engh received the prestigious Betongtavlen award for this concrete structure, a major architecture prize in Scandinavia. The building stands as a notable example of 1960s Norwegian architectural design.
