Åsane Church

Åsane Church is a contemporary building with a circular design and large windows that flood the interior with natural light. The structure accommodates up to 600 people in the main worship space and includes movable walls, a kitchen, office areas, and a basement hall that can hold an additional 400 people for community events.

A fire destroyed the previous stone church in 1992, leading architect Trygve Dyngeland to design a modern replacement. The new building opened in December 1993 at a location about one kilometer south of the original site.

The church shapes the religious life of the community through regular services, baptisms, and weddings that mark important moments for local residents. It has become a gathering place where people celebrate significant life events and maintain their spiritual practices.

The building is easily accessible and its flexible design with movable walls makes it adaptable for different types of events and gatherings. It is helpful to check ahead for current service times and any special programs scheduled at the church.

The building was deliberately built at a new location after the original 1795 stone church was destroyed by fire, which had capacity for only about 250 people. The expanded capacity of the replacement reflects how much the community had grown.
