Trondheim Tramway Museum

The Trondheim Tramway Museum is a transportation museum in Munkvoll that displays numerous vintage trams, photographs, and artifacts related to public transit history. The collection documents how this mode of transport developed across different decades.

The museum was founded in 1979 and preserves the legacy of two tramway companies that operated in Trondheim starting in 1901 and 1924. These operators shaped how the city developed through public transportation.

The collection features renovated trams from different periods of Norwegian urban mobility in the 20th century. These vehicles show how daily life in Trondheim changed as transportation options evolved.

The museum is located at Vognhallveien 1b and is open Wednesday through Sunday during the summer months from June to September. Visitors should note that hours are limited outside this summer season.

Several restored trams remain in working condition and allow the museum to offer special rides on the existing railway tracks. These trips give visitors a direct sense of what riding in a historic vehicle felt like.
