Lerchendal gård, Historic mansion in Trondheim, Norway
Lerchendal gård is a mansion with a protected main building surrounded by large mature trees and formal flower beds arranged in a deliberate layout. The property retains its original ornate garden design that reflects the tastes of its former residents.
Commander Christian Lerche began building the structures in 1770 and named the estate after his Danish noble family. The property later became a significant gathering place for cultural and institutional activities.
The Norwegian University of Science and Technology uses this preserved mansion for meetings, conferences, and institutional gatherings.
The property now serves as a location for the Norwegian Academy of Technological Sciences and contains several municipal apartments within its buildings. Parts of the grounds may be in use for official functions and meetings.
Between 1885 and 1890, the estate operated as a tavern and housed a school location for Singsaker-Tempe. This short period shows how the property adapted to serve different community needs.
