Vår Frelsers Church, Neo-gothic church in Haugesund, Norway.
Vår Frelsers Church is a neo-gothic building constructed from red brick, located in central Haugesund. The cross-shaped structure accommodates around 850 worshippers and displays the architectural style typical of early 1900s Norwegian churches.
The building was designed following an architectural competition in 1899 and opened in 1902. It incorporated elements from the earlier church that previously occupied the same location, creating a link between old and new.
The building serves as the spiritual center for Haugesund's community and has shaped local religious life for over a century. Residents and visitors alike experience how this space remains woven into the town's sense of place and tradition.
The building sits in the heart of Haugesund along Skåregata and is easy to reach on foot. Before visiting, check opening hours and dress respectfully if attending a service or event.
The building houses bells from an earlier church that once stood on the same ground. Inside visitors can also see a baptismal font from 1627, one of the oldest objects preserved within these walls.
