Nevis Highwire Platform, Bungee jump platform in Southern Alps, New Zealand
Nevis Highwire Platform is a jumping structure suspended 134 meters above the Nevis River valley in the Southern Alps. It is held in place by tension cords strung across the gorge and serves as a launching point for bungee jumpers.
AJ Hackett created this site after their first commercial bungee operation at Kawarau Bridge proved successful. The location was developed over time to accommodate the growing interest in extreme jumping experiences.
The site represents New Zealand's reputation as an adventure destination and draws people seeking to test their limits. Visitors from around the world come here to face one of their greatest fears in a controlled setting.
Visitors should arrive about 30 minutes before jumping and must weigh between 45 and 127 kilograms to participate. The journey from central Queenstown takes roughly 40 minutes by shuttle and is best attempted during clear weather.
The jumping pod features a glass floor that lets people look down at the 134-meter gorge below them. The free fall lasts roughly 8.5 seconds and reaches speeds around 200 kilometers per hour.
