Al Saleel National Park, National park in Al Kamil Wal Wafi, Oman.
Al Saleel National Park is a conservation area in Al Kamil Wal Wafi with extensive acacia forests and varied landscapes ranging from mountains to valleys. The grounds offer different paths for visitors to watch wildlife such as Arabian gazelles, red foxes, and Egyptian eagles.
The park was established in 1997 and marked a new phase of wildlife protection and environmental conservation in the Sharqiyah region. This protection status allowed habitats for threatened species to be preserved in the desert.
The native wildcat found here, called Al Senmar by local people, represents an important part of the region's natural heritage that visitors may encounter during walks.
The park is about 57 kilometers from Sur, so a visit requires some planning for the drive. Visitors should arrive early in the day and bring water and sun protection since the sun is strong in the desert.
Scientific research teams use the park's different ecosystems to study how desert animals adapt to their natural surroundings. These studies help scientists understand how creatures survive in extreme conditions.
