Cadiz

Cadiz is a city in Negros Occidental that stretches across a large area in the northern part of the province. It sits in a region with several waterways and contains various village and town districts that together form the local community.

Spanish colonizers founded the settlement in 1861 near the Hitalon River and named it after the Spanish port due to similar northern geography. This founding shaped its development from the start as a local center of trade and community.

The Dinagsa Festival happens in late January, when residents honor Santo Niño through traditional ceremonies and community gatherings. These celebrations shape the religious life of the city and bring people from different neighborhoods together.

The Busac-Busac Spring in Barangay Tinampa-an serves as the main source of fresh water for the entire city population. This natural spring has been essential for the daily water and life needs of residents throughout the city's existence.
