Burnham Park

Burnham Park is an urban park in central Baguio that stretches across several connected zones with lawns, tree plantings, and a man-made lake. The grounds also include a rose garden, an orchid house, and a playground for children.

The park was officially established in 1925 by a proclamation from the Governor General at the time, after an American architect submitted the design. The central lake area was created later through damming and complemented the original green zones.

The name honors the American architect who gave momentum to early urban park projects in the Philippines. Families and school groups use the open lawns for picnics, while joggers circle the lake and couples paddle slowly across the water in rented boats.

Bicycles can be rented at several spots to explore the paths along the lawns and around the lake. Boat rentals at the shore offer pedal boats for trips on the water, with availability depending on weather conditions.

One section displays pines from around the world, each tree labeled with its Latin name, allowing botanical comparison. Another area nurtures plants that thrive only in cooler climates, a rarity in the tropics.
