De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute, member school
De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute is a private medical school with an attached teaching hospital in Dasmariñas, Cavite, offering programs in medicine, nursing, pharmacy, and other health professions. The campus features modern classrooms, well-equipped laboratories and research facilities for practical training, sports complexes, and an extensive library.
The school was founded in 1979 to establish health professions education outside the capital and train doctors and nurses for the region. A teaching hospital was built in the 1980s, and after several name changes, the institution became part of the De La Salle network in the late 1990s.
The institute carries the name of Saint John Baptist de La Salle, a French teacher whose legacy of compassion and community service shapes the school's values today. The green and white colors and the student designation as 'Green Sentinels' reflect a strong institutional identity rooted in faith, service, and respect for human life.
The campus sits in an urban area of Dasmariñas with good walkability between modern buildings and green spaces. Visitors should expect an active, organized atmosphere as students and staff move daily between classrooms, clinics, and research areas.
The Angelo King Medical Research Center conducts clinical trials and scientific research of importance to international organizations, not just the Philippines. Several prominent figures such as Dr. Willie Ong and Dr. Maria Vergeire, now working in government or media, are graduates of the institution.
