Salikata National Park, National park in Lumba-Bayabao, Lanao del Sur, Philippines.
Salikata National Park is a protected area in the forested foothills of the Mount Ragang range in Lumba-Bayabao. The landscape features waterfalls, river valleys and rocky cliffs that run along the Gata River throughout the park.
The park was designated in 1965 by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources as one of six national parks in Lanao del Sur province. This designation marked part of the country's early efforts to protect its natural resources.
The park sits within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region and represents an important natural space for local communities. Visitors can sense how the forest and the people who live nearby are deeply connected.
Getting to the park requires coordination with local authorities, with Marawi City as the main starting point for visitors. Hiring a local guide is important since the terrain is hilly and remote in many areas.
The park contains several distinct ecological zones that range from dense forests near Barangay Salaman to more open landscapes near Mapantao. This variety makes it a significant location for studying different forest types across Mindanao.
