San Diego Pro-cathedral

The San Diego Pro-Cathedral features Romanesque architecture with a central dome rising 40 meters above the nave and Corinthian pillars along its Latin cross layout.

Don Jose Ledesma, a sugar baron, funded the construction of this concrete church in 1925, replacing an earlier structure made of bamboo and nipa palm.

The building honors San Diego de Alcala as its patron saint and maintains its role as the religious center for Catholic worship in Silay City.

Located on Rizal Street across from the city park, the pro-cathedral holds daily masses and welcomes visitors throughout the week.

This religious structure stands as the only pro-cathedral in the Philippines situated outside Metro Manila and contains the sole dome among churches in Negros Occidental.
