Santa Catalina de Alejandria Church, Baroque Catholic church in Porac, Philippines.
Santa Catalina de Alejandria Church is a baroque Catholic church in Porac, Pampanga, featuring Corinthian columns and iron-grilled windows on its stone facade. It stands at the heart of Barangay Poblacion and is one of the few surviving masonry churches in the area.
In 1734, permission was granted to use convent funds to build the first masonry structure in Porac. That early stone construction set the foundation for the parish that grew around it over the following centuries.
The facade displays the Augustinian emblem alongside a rose window showing Saint Catherine of Alexandria. Her image is central to how local people relate to this place during feasts and Sunday worship.
The church sits in the center of Barangay Poblacion and is easy to reach on foot from the main area of Porac. Because services are held regularly, plan your visit outside of Mass times if you want to walk around freely inside.
A 6.1 magnitude earthquake in 2019 brought the church's original four-story bell tower down to its base. What stands today reflects the rebuilding work carried out by the local community in the years that followed.
