Marikina River Park

Marikina River Park stretches along an 11-kilometer stretch of the river and features trails, open spaces, and various recreational areas throughout its grounds. The park includes sports facilities such as baseball fields, basketball courts, and the country's largest roller skating rink.

The city launched a river rehabilitation program in 1993 to reduce flooding and transform the riverbanks into public spaces for residents. This effort marked a turning point in how the area was managed and used by the community.

The park serves as a gathering place for the local community, especially during the annual Mama Mary Fluvial Parade Festival when people come together to celebrate near the water. Residents use the space regularly for community events and traditional celebrations.

Visitors can best explore the park by entering at different points along the river stretch, which allows for walking or cycling through the grounds. It is helpful to arrive earlier in the day, as the paths can become quite crowded in pleasant weather.

The rehabilitation project required local industries to install water treatment systems while incorporating architectural elements inspired by Chinese and Roman design. This unexpected blend of different building styles becomes apparent in the decorative features along the pathways.
