Museo de Intramuros, Religious museum in Intramuros, Philippines

The Museo de Intramuros occupies the reconstructed San Ignacio Church and Mission House, displaying an extensive collection of ecclesiastical artifacts and religious art.

Originally built in 1878 and completed in 1889, the San Ignacio Church suffered destruction during World War II before being reconstructed to house the museum in 2019.

The museum exhibits showcase the transformation of Filipino religious art through collections of indigenous artifacts, colonial relics, and traditional religious sculptures.

Located at Arzobispo corner Anda Streets, the museum opens Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with entrance fees of 75 PHP for adults.

The museum contains over 8,500 religious artifacts, including the Intramuros Pot Shard with ancient inscriptions discovered during the site excavation in 1979.

Discovering Manila in the Philippines

The historical monuments of Manila showcase Spanish colonial architecture and the national history of the Philippines. The city includes 16th-century fortifications like Intramuros and Fort Santiago, Catholic churches such as the neo-Romanesque cathedral and the baroque church of Saint Augustine, urban parks like Rizal Park, and museums depicting local culture. The Chinese district of Binondo and Manila Bay with its seaside promenade complete this architectural heritage.
