Malabon Zoo

Malabon Zoo is a private facility in Metro Manila that houses a varied collection of wild animals. The grounds are divided into different sections, including an area for large cats and bears, a primate area, plus an integrated aquarium and botanical gardens.

The zoo was founded in 1989 and developed into a center for observing wildlife in the Metro Manila region. Since its opening, the facility has expanded its collection and added various sections to house more animal species.

The facility names its resident animals after prominent personalities, including local politicians and entertainment figures from Philippine society.

The best time to visit is early morning when animals are more active and crowds are smaller. The grounds are relatively flat and easy to navigate, with some shaded areas, though you should bring sun protection and water.

During the 2020 pandemic, the zoo benefited greatly from massive community support, with residents contributing voluntary donations to fund animal care. This grassroots response shows how much the local population values this facility and its animals.
